Our Spring Coffee Constitutional will memorialize BPWA co-founder Eleanor Gibson.

Coffee Constitutional: A Tribute to Eleanor Gibson

Date and time: Tuesday, May 23 @ 10:30 a.m.

Leader: Jacque Ensign

Start: Peet’s Coffee (corner of Walnut and Vine Sts.)

This walk will honor the memory of Eleanor Gibson on the first anniversary of her death.  She and Jacque, together with Pat DeVito, and Ruth Armstrong, founded Berkeley Path Wanderers Association. They first met in November, 1997, to discuss how they could preserve Berkeley’s paths, and BPWA was born the following May. After coffee at the original Peet’s, Jacque will lead this two-mile stroll, passing the lovely cottage where Eleanor lived. The route includes several paths and some mild hills. Along the way, Jacque will share stories of BPWA’s early days, including how our iconic map came to be.
