We are excited to introduce two new members of the Berkeley Path Wanderers Association board, Bryan Haggerty and Steve McConnell.
Bryan will serve as BPWA’s social media coordinator, renewing our association’s social media presence. We are delighted to have Bryan’s dedication and talent. He is sure to bring great ideas and engaging content across multiple platforms. Get ready to experience Berkeley’s paths and the people who walk them in new and exciting ways!
Steve will be taking over as web services administrator, succeeding Stephanie Bodoff. We are grateful to Stephanie for her collaborative spirit and support. Much of the work is akin to wizardry behind the curtain! We look forward to having Steve bring his expertise to the role and ensure the continued management and development of the association’s web services.
These two new additions reflect BPWA’s ongoing commitment to bring fresh perspectives and energy to the work of preserving and celebrating Berkeley’s unique paths. Board members serve 2-4 year terms which end at various times. This provides a natural balance between experienced board members and new members. Together, we operate as a collective democracy. We endeavor to honor the vision of the founders who were at the heart of the association while forging new directions.

Bryan Haggerty is BPWA’s new social media coordinator. He has spent much of his career as a product designer and leader at Bay Area technology companies, including Twitter and LinkedIn. In his new role, Bryan will lead the association’s social media efforts, drawing on his extensive experience developing social media products.
Originally from the Northeast, Bryan moved to the Bay Area 10 years ago and now calls Berkeley home. In 2025, he completed his goal of walking every street in Berkeley. He is now working toward a new milestone: exploring every path in the city. You may spot him along the paths, checking his map and capturing photos and videos along the way. Be sure to say hi, he welcomes your input!
Steve McConnell, BPWA’s new web services administrator, is a veteran journalist and communicator. An editor and photographer for major metro daily newspapers in Chicago, Connecticut and Minneapolis, I left the print world for the web at the turn of the millennium. Moving to the Bay Area, I joined UC Berkeley to create the campus’s first online news portal, managed the main gateway website, and then became web director for the College of Engineering, responsible for dozens of websites and other digital tools.
Since arriving in the Thousand Oaks neighborhood, Berkeley’s paths have become part of my daily post-retirement routine. From walking the dog to running errands to tackling regular multi-path hikes, I enjoy their endless views and variety. And now I’m eager to use my media skills to spread the word to new audiences, connecting people with their paths.
